local archeology

The Greenport Land Conservancy is only about a mile outside of town and has some nice hiking trails and river views.
One of my favorite things to do there is to wander off the path into the woods and check out the dumping grounds of previous generations. Throughout the Hudson Valley, farmers used to haul their garbage right into the closest ravine.

I brought home this old broken Warren Street liquor store bottle:
IMG_7994but left plenty behind.

Some of the relics that await future archeologists:
hudson relics
Baby carriage, Kitchen implements (from Coons and Marshall Dept Store,  521 Warren St)
farm machinery parts (very sculptural-- make a lamp!), and mossy vintage clothing (no thanks).
